A message from Ian Smalley- founder
of Violent Hero
Back in 2007, I started my journey into the weird world of powerlifting
as an experiment to explore the limits of my physical capabilities.
The quest for strength is nothing new, but after many years languishing
away with an undisciplined approach to bodybuilding I decided it was
time to find a different measuring stick for success. Since that time
I’ve found that there are few limits to what one can accomplish with
the right focus and determination, and above all a genuine love for
heavy weight. Along the way I’ve seen a lot in the powerlifting community,
and in strength sports in general that I love, but there is still a
lot of things that need to change. Generally speaking most strength
athletes can agree that we’re all united by our strength and pursuit
of greatness. It’s us, and then all the normal people, and we like
it that way…but what gets lost is the incredible influence that can
we have over the population to inspire. Strength athletes are the modern
day super heroes…we are the biggest, the strongest, the toughest,
both mentally and physically. Normal people look up to us, they secretly
want to be us. In a time where money has become the pursuit of the weak,
I believe there is still a place in the world for the strong. That is
what Violent Hero is about.
Violent Hero-
